walking the streets in shoes that kill my feet

Oh, "Taboo" was good. So so so good. And I am lucky. So so so lucky. You see, I got to go for free, and then I got a backstage tour, at which point I stood in a Broadway theater, center stage and looked out and thought, "Oh yes. I think it's high time I became an actress." So we'll see how that plan goes.

But yes, the show. It was very great. The songs were wonderful, fake Boy George was great, real Boy George was great, Phillip was fabulous and Big Sue, that girl can sing. And you know I cried. You know it. If I don't cry at a show, I feel like it was a failure. So I'm glad that worked out.

Yes, and I went with fun friends and there were good times and our cabdriver knew exactly how to get to my house without my having to say much of anything (which always gets two thumbs up) although he did have to stop on the way at the taxi garage (and left us in the car with the meter shut off and THE KEYS STILL IN IT). That is a man with trust. I loved it.

And then we went out for drinks and more fun. It was a highly successful evening, I'd say. And it cost me about $30 all told. Aces.

Last night I was talking about how Consigliere had wondered what I thought of all these creepy music mergers (well, I guess I just said what I thought there, eh?) and I was saying how I didn't really think much of it at all because it was confusing and a little scary and made me a headache. But the truth is (and this is what we were discussing last night), it's pretty clear to me that we are soon for a world where there's just two choices. Burger King or McDonalds? Democrat or Republican? Pepsi or Coke -- and this is the way I need to think of things, in terms of soda. You know how pretty much every soda is either a Pepsi product or a Coke product? I've become very familiar with that concept because at all the supermarkets here, they alternate which brand is on sale. "Is it Pepsi week or Coke week" we ask each other in the aisle as we pick our 12 pack. So soon we have the world where everything is Time/Warner/AOL/whatever or Viviendi/Universal/Seagrams/whatever. You know, or whatever.

But yes, I pretend none of this is going on and am sure to pay full retail price for all my little indie boys' albums and pick up a T-shirt I'll never wear just because I know that $15 goes in their pocket and hope for the best for everyone. Because I can't have a headache full time.

After all, I have acting to attend to! Let me get to it.

PS Rod Stewart needs to stop singing "Maggie May" anymore. Leave me with the beautiful memories (and recording), thanks.
