bet you'd live here if you could and be one of us

How much of a giant loser will I be if I spend New Year's Eve at the bar next door? It's pretty bad, I guess. But I hate going out in the city and I hate really crowded places and I hate being anywhere full of very drunk people who don't normally drink. New Year's Eve is second only to St. Patrick's Day when it comes to Amateur Night.

An amateur is, of course, one who drinks once or twice a year and does so to alarming excess, resulting in horror for all those around them. Hate it.

Anyway, I'll be out in a boring place with boring people (aside from my friends), likely, but that is OK. After all, last year I spent this night watching Adult Swim. Oh yes I did. That was pretty fun, though. This year my house is too much of a mess to host guests for anything other than a quick bit of food and a pre-outing cocktail. Sad.

So The Fan moved back in. And he ran into the landlord who said, "Hey! Are you moving back in?" and he said, "Yep!" That was easy.

Last night I got a couple of calls on my cell phone at 2:30 am, which used to happen quite frequently. It hasn't in a long while though, so I was panicking when the phone rang. I am out of practice. It scared me. The first call, I didn't recognize the number. The second time, the person's partner in crime called, and I did have his number saved so it came up with his name. They were out and said we should stop by. But we were sleeping and all, so I didn't answer or call back. The bad part of this whole story is that it took me ten minutes to get my heart rate back to normal. Whoa.

Guess what I learned last night? That I had the wrong words to "We're All Alone" all my life. You know, from Rita Coolidge and/or Boz Scaggs? Yes. I always thought it was "Close the window, come alive." But it is "Close the window, calm the light." Calm the light? Who says that? No one but Boz and Rita, I guess. My way might be weird (although not completely unique. I asked The Fan to sing the song and he said the exact same thing I always thought without my prodding), but at least "come alive" is a viable phrase. I give this a thumbs down.

I can't believe "Rich Girls" is over. I also can't believe how psychotically addicted I got to that show. I think I still haven't seen all of episodes one and two, so I must be on the lookout for those. All day I sing in my mind the theme song and then the Lillix song they give at the end. It is a sickness.

Oh yes. And Christmas was magically wonderful. Completely exhausting but very very great. So there.
